Tasks and Responsibilities:
The role of the Network Engineer covers the activities related to the engineering and service troubleshooting of all Galileo Networks. 
 
These include the end-to-end engineering management and service troubleshooting of all Galileo Networks, from the Galileo WAN (the GDDN) to the CFI LANs (MDDN, SDDN, etc) with the objective of ensuring readiness of all related infrastructure and operational products for live operations.  
 
The responsibility is to support the Network Coordinator overseeing the GDDN/MDDN and SDDN engineering processes and coordinating harmonized Networks operations preparation and validation activities.
In a framework of teamworking, this responsibility also include to concur to identify and analyze any issue impacting the Galileo Service, working in strict contact with resources of any other involve areas (eg. Service Provision or Engineering), with a specific contribute  related to the Networks.
The Network Engineer is liaising with the GSOp Core Team Member teams (mainly TPZ and DLR-GfR), the GDDN Service Provider team (mainly TPZ), and the GMS/GCS Segment Provider teams from Industry and Customer representatives (EUSPA/ESA).
 
The main tasks are
  • To interface EUSPA, ESA and Network providers (TPZ/GDDN, AD&S/SDDN and TAS-F/MDDN) on any Galileo LAN/WAN related technical issue and to coordinate and harmonize inputs/contributions from all GSOP teams on NW related topics
  • To follow-up the deployment planning and scheduling of all GDDN and Segment NW assets analysing impacts to operations activities
  • To chair the Net CCB following all CCRs lifecycle completion (providing coordination across all Ops teams on CCRs, supporting information transfer to EUSPA, supporting CCRs implementation planning and CCRs closure)
  • To manage all GDDN engineering and deployment activities and related reporting, and to coordinate GDDN Site Acceptance and Network Acceptance Reviews
  • To support Segment LAN Element Reviews/Boards (e.g. DRBs, FTRB, STRR, STRB)
  • To support all Network ops processes, ARBs, CCBs providing coordination across all Ops teams on issues/changes, supporting information transfer to ESA/Segment, supporting CCR implementation planning and follow-on fix/change validations, including status of expected level-2/3 fixes affecting mission services and associated incidents as well as related troubleshooting activities
  • To support the coordination of the local GCC network ops teams, ensuring harmonization of an integrated MDDN, SDDN and GDDN ops concept definition, processes implementation, procedures development and validation as well as documentation organization and development across GCC sites plus teams (GfR, TPZ)
  • To be responsible for cla and uncla LAN and WAN network ops procedure definition and maintenance (including Sop vol 6)
  • To identify and follow-up cross-GCC NW operations and security engineering improvements and injects input into the GDDN/GCS/GMS/System OID documents and meetings
  • To support Segments/System/Ops Formal Reviews/Boards (e.g. SQR, ORR, LRR, QPM) and coordinate accordingly GSOp inputs and contributions (e.g. progress reports, presentations, RIDs) on the topic of E2E NW 
  • To interface with other SPO roles and activities (mainly GCS, GMS and ILS) and with SPO Security & Accreditation roles and activities wherever NW boundaries overlap with such other areas
  • To propose Network troubleshooting activities for incidents/anomalies that might impact the service
  • To produce technical notes, plans, reports and other documentation as required plus regular activities status reports (e.g. monthly report)
  • To report about the progress of the anomaly resolution, providing inputs to the incident reports and propose plan for risk mitigation 
  • To support the implementation and maintenance of the workaround database related to NW troubleshooting activities
  • To support the maintenance and update of the Risk Register related to the GDDN/MDDN and SDDN systems and infrastructures of the GSOp project, with periodical review on the basis of events, new issues, opportunities arisen or not triggered, expiration of foreseen risks etc.
Required Qualification and Experience:
  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Telecommunications, Electronics, Informatics, Engineering, Physics) with at least 5 years of work experience, alternatively 8+ years related work experience
  • Expertise and background in Networking Systems Engineering and/or in Ground Segment Operations in an international environment/mission
  • Experience and background in Ground/Networks Systems AIV or Operations
  • Experience in managing and tasking technical teams
  • Possess good problem analysis and solving skills
  • Possess good liaising and communication skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English, fluency in Italian and/or German is appreciated
  • Fluency in standard office automation tools (MS Office, Email, Internet, etc.)
Work location:
SPO HQ (Munich, Germany)
It could be necessary to spend time periodically at the GCC-D (Oberpfaffenhofen, Munich, Germany) and GCC-I (Fucino, Italy).
It could be necessary to participate in meetings in the above locations and in other relevant project locations in Europe.
